Celgene seeks to attain a place of leadership in our global operations, in our communities, and in a sustainable future. This includes leadership in environmental awareness and stewardship in our built environment - buildings, manufacturing plants, and laboratories - and in the various communities of which we are a part of worldwide.
Carbon Management aims to help Celgene’s many sites and operations implement environmentally and economically beneficial programs and provides a foundation for numerous and various conservation practice along with guidelines for environmentally friendly solutions to common daily activities.
There has been initiatives and projects, both short-term, long-term and ongoing that have defined our efforts to create sound and environmentally friendly workplaces. These have come about not without resistance, and we have found that utilizing education and motivational activities work best to further these pursuits.
About the speaker:
Dominic Borda has worked in engineering fields during his professional tenure since graduating from Penn State University and Villanova University. This includes mechanical, civil, structural and environmental engineering on a multitude of projects from California hospitals to New Jersey casinos to Pennsylvania office buildings. Dominic is currently by Celgene Corp. as the Carbon management Engineer to head programs and drive strategies around environmental sustainability and education. Since 2012, he has managed compilation and disclosure of Celgene environmental performance across its worldwide operations for public consumption, and both assisted and led the formation of Celgene’s annual Corporate Responsibility Report. He also advises on current and new building and infrastructure improvements, proper waste management strategies, and employee carpooling and commuting operations.
Dominic is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, and a graduate of Villanova University with two Masters of Science degrees in civil engineering and sustainable engineering. He has attained a LEED Green Associate accreditation from the US Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).

About the speaker:
Andrew Wright is a Senior Validation Engineer at Barry-Wehmiller Design Group. He received his B.S. and M.S. from the State University at Buffalo in Pharmaceutics. He has been active in computer systems validation for over 15 years. His computer experience includes system administration, full life cycle development of validation documentation, 21 CFR Part 11 remediation, consent decree verification and decommission activities for both stand-alone and client/server systems. His current activities involve assessing and remediating legacy bio-analytical systems associated with gene therapy.
