Herb Goldstein
Herb
has a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Fairfield University in
Connecticut, and a Master of Science degree in Management from Polytechnic
University in New York. He holds ASQ certifications in Quality Engineering and
as a Quality Auditor. Herb
has worked in the medical device industry since 1970, entirely in the in-vitro
diagnostics field. For the first 24 years Herb worked for Technicon Instruments
(now called Bayer Healthcare) in Tarrytown NY, designing and then managing
electrical engineering staff developing chemistry analyzers, hematology
instruments, and Immuno-diagnostic instruments. In
1994 Herb joined Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, a Johnson and Johnson Company, in
Raritan, New Jersey, as a Staff engineer in the Quality, Regulatory, and
Compliance Division. In this capacity he has provided, and continues to provide,
Quality Assurance leadership in successfully developing and releasing Blood
Typing instruments world wide. As
lead auditor, Herb has audited many companies within the United States per FDA
quality standard 21 CFR part 820, and also audited companies in Europe per ISO
9000 standards. Most recently he has completed an extensive four week Six Sigma
Black Belt course, and is actively working on his certification project. Herb has been a member of the ASQTZ Board of Directors since 2003. He is married with two grown children and lives in New City, New York. He loves driving, and that is demonstrated daily on his 70 mile one-way commute to work.
